The project involved the construction of number of floodways on a principal access road within the Cultana Training Area, which is situated between Port Augusta and Whyalla. Works included:
replacement of an existing concrete pipe with a 600 x 600 precast concrete box culvert and installation of precast concrete headwall structure, extension of an existing culvert 600 x 600 culvert and relocation of headwalls, road widening, involving earthworks and unbound granular pavement construction, with tie-in to existing alignment, reshaping of drainage swales, rock protection of batters at headwalls, bituminous seal treatment to pavements at the floodway sites. The work was completed to budget and ahead of schedule with over 80% local Aboriginal employment.
