GWA Access Track

Dept. of Infrastructure & Transport

Port Augusta, South Australia

DIT engaged Birubi Australia to construct a new access track from Tassie St for OneRail Australia (formerly GWA), to facilitate the adjacent Joy Baluch AM Bridge Duplication project. The scope of work included demolition and removal of redundant concrete, signage and vegetation, earthworks and subgrade preparation, granular pavements, asphalt, kerbing and associated traffic management, all to DIT Master Specifications. It was completed on schedule and within budget, using predominantly regional suppliers and subcontractors and labour from the local Indigenous workforce. Other than for the specialist, subcontracted works Birubi’s workforce was composed almost entirely of local Aboriginal people. Birubi self-performed all workzone traffic management, and provided WZTM to two Aboriginal employees in this skill.
